On September 30, 1997, “Go!/London” labels released the self-titled second Portishead album. It was recorded 1996 – 1997, and was produced by Geoff Barrow, Adrian Utley, Beth Gibbons and Dave McDonald. The album was certified Platinum in Europe by “IFPI”, and Platinum in UK by “BPI”.

On September 30, 1985, “Epic” label released “Soul to Soul” the third Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble studio album. It was recorded March–May 1985, at “Dallas Sound Lab”, in Dallas, Texas, and was produced by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tommy Shannon,  Chris Layton, Reese Wynans and Richard Mullen.

Stars

On September 30, 1991, “EastWest Records” released “Stars”, the fourth Simply Red album. It was recorded in 1991, at the “Condulmer Recording Studio”, in Venice, Italy, and was produced by Stewart Levine. The album  was certified 12 x Platinum in UK by “BPI”, and was the best-selling album  both in 1991 and 1992,  and became the 14th best-selling album of all time in the UK.

Rain Dogs

On September 30, 1985, “Island” label released “Rain Dogs” , the eighth Tom Waits album. The middle album of the trilogy that includes “Swordfishtrombones” and “Franks Wild Years”, was recorded at the “RCA Studios” and was produced by Tom Waits. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Rain Dogs” at  number 397 on its list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

On September 30, 1977, “Stiff Records” released “New Boots and Panties!!”, the debut Ian Dury album. It was recorded in 1977, at “The Workhouse” in London, and was was produced by Peter Jenner, Laurie Latham and Rick Walton. The album was certified Platinum in the UK by the “BPI”, and was among the UK’s 30 best selling albums of both 1978 and 1979.
