On January 1976, Chester Arthur Burnett aka Howlin’ Wolf died aged 65. He was musician (guitar, harmonica), singer, and songwriter, one of best known Chicago blues artists. Some of his songs have like “Spoonful”, “Smokestack Lightnin’”, and “Killing Floor”, become standards, and have been recorded and performed by many blues and rock musicians. In 2011, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked Wolf at number 54 on its list of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”. As a leader he released 22 albums.

As musician he has recorded and performed with Miles Davis, Carlos Garnett, Babatunde Olatunji, Norman Connors, Flora Purim, Lonnie Liston Smith, Hubert Eaves, Roberta Flack, Urszula Dudziak, James Mtume, Gary Bartz, Zbigniew Seifert, John Lee, Gerry Brown and Masabumi Kikuchi. As producer Lucas worked with Madonna, Mtume, Models, Randy Crawford, Rebbie Jackson, Bunny DeBarge, The Four Tops, John Adams, The Weather Girls, Elisa Fiorillo and Nick Scotti. In 1981, Lucas and James Mtume won a “Grammy Award” for “Best R&B Song” for their composition “Never Knew Love Like This Before”, which was performed by Stephanie Mills. As leader, Lucas has recorded two albums.

James Burns
On December 26, 2017, James Burns died aged 65. He was television producer and writer, best known as co-creator (with Robert Small) of “MTV Unplugged”. Tindall recorded with many musicians and bands including the O’Jays, the Trammps, Lou Rawls, Teddy Pendergrass, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Blue Magic, the Intruders, the Three Degrees, Bonnie Raitt, the Chambers Brothers, the Jacksons, Robert Palmer and the Temptations.Tindall was inducted twice into the “Philadelphia Music Alliance’s Walk of Fame” as a member of MFSB and the Salsoul Orchestra.
John Peel
On October 25, 2004, John Robert Parker Ravenscroft aka John Peel died aged 65. He was disc jockey, radio presenter, record producer and journalist, widely acknowledged for promoting artists working in various genres in “Peel’s Radio 1” shows, which usually consisted of four songs recorded by an artist live in the BBC’s studios. In 1969 Peel founded “Dandelion Records”, that label released 27 albums by 18 different artists before folding in 1972.
