Public Image Ltd.: Public Image Ltd. First Issue

On December 8, 1978, “Virgin” label released “Public Image: First Issue”, the debut  Public Image Ltd, album. It was recorded July – November 1978, at “The Manor Studio”, “Shipton-on-Cherwell”, “Wessex Studios”, “Gooseberry Sound Studios”, “Townhouse Studios” and “Advision Studios” in London, and was produced by John Lydon, Keith Levene, Jah Wobble and Jim Walker.

The Clash: Sandinista

On December 12, 1980, “CBS” label released “Sandinista!”, the fourth Clash studio album. The triple album 36 songs were recorded February – August 1980, at “Pluto Studios” in Manchester; “The Power Station” in New York, “Electric Lady Studios” in New York City, “Channel One Studios” in Kingston, and  at “Wessex Studios” in London, and was produced by Mikey Dread, Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Topper Headon. “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Sandinista” on number 404, on it’s list of “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”; Sandinista! was voted best album of the year in the Pazz & Jop critics poll in “The Village Voice” and in 2012, “Slant” magazine ranked the album at number 85 on its “Best Albums of the 1980s”.

Queen: A Day At The Races

On December 10, 1976, “EMI” label released “A Day at the Races”, the fifth Queen studio album.  It was recorded at the “Sarm East”, “The Manor” and “Wessex Studios”, and was produced by Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon. This was  the second band’s album that took  its name from  Marx Brothers movie (the previous was “A Night at the Opera). In 2006, in “BBC” pool “A Day at the Races” was voted the 67th greatest album of all time. The album was certified Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada”; Platinum in Poland by “ZPAV”, and Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”.
