It was recorded October 2000 – January 2001, at “Cello Studios” in Hollywood, “The Hook”, “Big Empty Space”, and “The Lodge” in North Hollywood, and was produced by David Bottrill, Maynard James Keenan, Adam Jones, Justin Chacellor and Danny Carey. In April 2021, the album was certified triple Platinum in US by the “RIAA”, and double Platinum in Australia and Canada. In 2002, the band won the “Grammy Award” for “Best Metal Performance” for the song” “Schism”.
