Ocean Colour Scene: One For The Modern

On September 13, 1999, “Island” label released “One From the Modern”, the fourth Ocean Colour Scene album. It was recorded in 1999, at “Moseley Shoals” in Birmingham, England, and was produced by Brendan Lynch.

Wynton Marsalis: The Marciac Suite

On August 22, 2000, “Columbia” label released “The Marciac Suite”, album by Wynton Marsalis Septet (the 25th Wynton Marsalis album overall). Wynton Marsalis recorded the music for the annual “Jazz in Marciac” festival. The album was originally included as a bonus disc with the “Swinging into the 21st series”, released in 1999.It was recorded in 1999, at “Jazz in Maricac” festival, and was produced by Delfeayo Marsalis.

Wynton Marsalis: Uptown Ruler: Soul Gestures in Southern Blue, Vol. 2

On July 30, 1999, “Columbia” label released “Uptown Ruler: Soul Gestures in Southern Blue, Vol. 2”, the twelve Wynton Marsalis album. It is part two of the three-part blues cycle recorded by Marsalis and his quintet, and was recorded at “BMG Studios” in New York City, and was produced by George Butler.

Abdul Kareem “Duke” Fakir 

On July 22, 2024, Abdul Kareem “Duke” Fakir died aged 88. He was singer, a founding member of the quartet Four Tops. In 1990, as a member of the Four Tops, Fakir was inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 1997, he was inducted into the “Vocal Group Hall of Fame”, in 1999, in the “Grammy Hall of Fame”, in 1998, received the “Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award”. 

Pete Ham: Golders Green

On July 13, 1999, “Rykodisc” label released “Golders Green”, the second posthumous Pete Ham album. It features demo materials from various eras, during his years with The Iveys in 1968 and 1969, throughout his tenure with Badfinger, ending with his suicide in 1975. The album was produced by Dan Matovina.

Townes Van Zandt: A Far Cry From Dead

On June 29, 1999, “Arista Austin” label released “A Far Cry from Dead”, a posthumous Townes Van Zandt album. The recordings were constructed from DAT tapes provided to by the singer’s widow, Jeanene, and were produced by Eric Paul. Townes Van Zadt’s original vocals and guitar were recorded 1989 – 1996, at “Texhoma Music Group Studio” and “Cowboy Arms Hotel and Recording Spa” in Nashville, Tennessee.

On June 21, 1999, “London” label released “H.M.S Fable”, the third Shack album. It was recorded 1998 – 1999, at “Townhouse” in London, “Rockfield” in Monmouthshire, Southeast Wales, “Ridge Farm” in Capel, Surrey, “Westside” in London, “Britannia Row” in London, “The Chapel” in South Thoresby, Alford, “Lansdowne” in London, and was produced by Hugh Jones and Youth (Martin Glover). In 2013, “New Musical Express” magazine ranked “H.M.S. Fable” at number 332 at its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.
