On September 23, 2025, Daniel Henry Edward Thompson aka Danny Thompson died aged 86. He was musician (upright bass, tea chest bass), songwriter and record producer, member of Alexis Korner’s Blues Incorporated, led a trio that included John McLaughlin, but was best known as member of Pentangle and long – time collaborator with John Martyn. During his long musical career he recorded and played with a large variety of other musicians, including Richard Thompson, Kate Bush, Tim Buckley, ABC, Skin, Ayuo, Richard Barbieri, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Sam Brown, Graham Coxon, Donovan, Christine Collister, Barbara Dickson, Bick Drake, Everything but the Girl, Marianne Faithfull, Peter Gabriel, Davey Graham, Mara!, Linda Lewis, Mike Landup, Magna Carta, The Chris McGregor Septet, Loreena McKennitt, Ralph McTell, Alison Moyet, Cliff Richard, Dizrhythmia, David Sylvian, Duffy Power, Deva Premal, Andrew Ridgeley, Talk Talk, Loudon Wainwright III, Se. E. Leonardo “Flaco” Jiménez
On July 31, 2025, Leonardo “Flaco” Jiménez died aged 86. He was musician (accordion, bajo sexto), singer and composer, known for having played conjunto, norteño and tejano. He was member of the Texas Tornados, Los Super Seven and the Free Mexican Airforce. Jiménez recorded and performed with Dr. John, David Lindley, The Rolling Stones, Peter Rowan, Ry Cooder and Bob Dylan. He received numerous awards and honors, including “Lifetime Achievement Awards” from the “Grammys”, “Americana Music Awards”, “Tejano Music Awards” and Billboard magazine. As leader, Jiménez released 27th studio and one live album.

On September 5, 2024, Brian Keith “Herbie” Flowers died aged 86. He was musician (bass, double bass, tuba), member of bands Blue Mink, T. Rex and Sky. He played on more than 500 hit recordings, including ones for Elton John, Camel, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Roy Harper, David Essex, Al Kooper, Bryan Ferry, Harry Nilsson, Cat Stevens, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Chanter Sisters, Allan Clarke, Jeff Wayne, Roger Daltrey, Steve Harley, Tim Rose, Cliff Richard, Sally Oldfield, Olivia Newton – John, Melanie, Hazel O’Connor and Jane Wiedlin. As leader, Flowers released four albums.
Manu Dibango
On March 24, 2020, Emmanuel N’Djoké Dibango aka Manu Dibango died aged 86. He was musician (saxophone and vibraphone), developed a musical style fusing jazz, funk, and traditional Cameroonian music. He was a member of the seminal Congolese rumba group, African Jazz, and has collaborated with many musicians, including Fania All Stars, Fela Kuti, Herbie Hancock, Bill Laswell, Bernie Worrell, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, King Sunny Adé, Don Cherry, and Sly and Robbie. He was best known for his 1972 single “Soul Makossa”.
