Gil Evans: Into the Hot

In January 1962, “Impulse!” label released “Into the Hot”, the fifth Gil Evans album. It was recorded September – October 1961, at “Van Gelder Studio”, in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, and was produced by Creed Taylor.

Cecil Taylor: Cecil Taylor Unit

In June 1978, “New World” label released “Cecil Taylor Unit”, the 25th Cecil Taylor album. It was recorded in April 1978, at “Columbia Recording Studios”, and was produced by Sam Parkins, during the same session that produced “3 Phasis” album.

Tomasz Stanko

On July 29, 2018, Tomasz Stańko died aged 76. He was musician (trumpet), composer and improviser, associated with free jazz and the avant-garde. He has performed and recorded with many famous jazz musicians including  Adam Makowicz, Krzysztof Komeda, Zbigniew Seifert,Cecil Taylor,  Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland, Reggie Workman, Rufus Reid, Lester Bowie, David Murray, Manu Katché and Chico Freeman.

Tom Wilson Jr.

On September 6, 1978, Thomas Blanchard “Tom” Wilson Jr. died aged 47. He was producer best known for his work with Bob Dylan, The Mothers of Invention, The Fraternity of Man, Simon and Garfunkel, the Velvet Underground, Cecil Taylor, Sun Ra, Eddie Harris, Nico, Eric Burdon & the Animals, the Blues Project, the Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem and Soft Machine.
