He was musician (guitar, steel guitar), recorded and performed with many artists including The Black Stetson Boys, George Brown’s Alabama Hayriders, The Saddletramps, Dougie Dee and the Dee Men, Keith Christmas, Cliff Richard, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Clodagh Rodgers, Barbara Dickson, The Pretty Things and Fairport Convention, but was best known as member of Matthews Southern Comfort.
