Groundhogs: Scratching The Surface

In December 1968, “Liberty” label released “Scratching the Surface”, the debut Groundhogs album. It was recorded in October 1968, at “Marquee Studios” in London, and was produced by Mike Batt.

Tony McPhee

On June 6, 2023, Anthony Charles McPhee aka Tony McPhee, died aged 79. He was musician (guitar), singer and song-writer, founder of the band Groundhogs. The band backed Champion Jack Dupree and John Lee Hooker on UK concerts in the mid-1960s, and in 1966, McPhee released a duet single with Champion Jack Dupree. As leader McPhee released 13 albums.  

Groundhogs: Who Will Save the World? The Mighty Groundhogs

In March 1972, “United Artists” label released “Who Will Save the World? The Mighty Groundhogs”, the fifth Groundhogs album. It was recorded in January 1972, “De Lane Lea Studios” in London, and was produced by Tony McPhee.
