On September 12, 2006, “5 Rue Christine” label released “The Air Force”, the fifth Xiu Xiu studio album. It was recorded in 2006, and was produced by Greg Saunier, Jamie Stewart and Caralee McElroy. The album cover includes “Christ Crowned with Thorns” by Renaissance painter Fra Angelico.

On January 23, 2007, “Kill Rock Stars”, “ATP Recordings” and “5 Rue Christine” labels released “Friend Opportunity”, the eighth Deerhoof studio album. It was recorded in 2006, and was produced by John Dieterich, Satomi Matsuzaki, and Greg Saunier. British artist David Shrigley deisgned twelve different covers for the album.
