On April 26, 1980, “Slash” label released “Los Angeles”, the debut X studio album. It was recorded in January 1980, at “Golden Sound Studios” in Hollywood, and was produced by Ray Manzarek. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” ranked “Los Angeles” at number 286 on its list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. Album title track was included in the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s” list of “500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll”.

David Thomas

On April 23, 2025, David Lynn Thomas died aged 71. He was singer, songwriter and musician (melodeon, trombone, musette, guitar), one of the founding members of the band Rocket from the Tombs, but was best known as founding member, vocalist and composer of Pere Ubu. He worked with a variety of musicians including Richard Thompson, Philip Moxham, Lindsay Cooper, Chris Cutler and John Greaves. He recorded and released albums under his name as David Thomas & the Pedestrians, David Thomas & His Legs, David Thomas & the Wooden Birds, David Thomas & Foreigners, David Thomas & Two Pale Boys, David Thomas and P.O. Jørgens and with Unknown Instructors.
