Black Crowes Shake Your Money maker

On January 24, 1990, “Def American Recordings” released “Shake Your Money Maker”, the debut Black Crowes (The) album.  It was named after an Elmore James’s classic blues song and was recorded in 1989, at the “Soundscape Studios” in Atlanta; “Chapel Studios”, “Paramount Studios” and “Grandmaster Studios” in Los Angeles, and was produced by George Drakoulias.

On January 24, 1972, “Atlantic” label released “Young, Gifted and Black”, the nineteenth Aretha Franklin studio album. It was recorded August 1970 – February 1971, and was produced by Tom Dowd, Arif Mardin and Jerry Wexler. In 1972, the album won Aretha Franklin “Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance”. In 2003, the TV network “VH1” ranked it the 76th greatest album of all time.

Otis blue

On September 15, 1965, “Stax Records” released “Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul”, the third Otis Redding studio album . It was recorded from April – July 1965, at the “Stax Recording Studios” in Memphis, Tennessee and was produced by Jim Stewart, Isaac Hayes and David Porter. “Rolling Stone” magazine raked “Otis Blue” at number 74 on its list of the“500 Greatest Albums of All Time”,

On December 10, 1967, Otis Redding died aged 26. He was singer, songwriter, record producer and arranger,  considered one of the greatest singers in the history of American popular music and one of the most important singers in soul and rhythm and blues music. He was known by the nicknames The Big O, The Mad Man from Macon, Rockhouse Redding and The King of Soul.

On October 24, 2002, Thomas John “Tom” Dowd died aged 77. He was recording engineer and producer for Atlantic Records. He was credited with innovating the multi-track recording method. Tom Dowd recorded albums for number of famous artists including: Eric Clapton, Derek and the Dominos, Rod Stewart, Aretha Franklin, The Drifters, Cream, Lulu, Chicago, The Allman Brothers Band, The J. Geils Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Meat Loaf, Sonny & Cher, The Rascals, Willie Nelson, Diana Ross, Kenny Loggins, Dusty Springfield and Otis Redding.
