Whitey Glan

On November 7, 2017, Pentti “Whitey” Glan died aged 71. He was musician (drums), member of the band The Rogues (later Mandala), performed and recorded with Bette Midler, John Kay, American Flyer, Bush, Klaatu, Anne Murray, Domenic Trolano, David Wilcox, Downchild Blues Band, Alice Cooper, and Lou Reed.

Robert Moog

On August 21, 2005, Robert Arthur Moog died aged 71. He was an engineer and pioneer of electronic music, founder of “Moog Music”. In 1964, he promoted “Moog synthesizer”, the first commercial synthesizer. In 1970, he invented the “Minimoog”, portable model, regarded as the most famous and influential synthesizer in history.

Martin Birch

On August 9, 2020, Martin Birch died aged 71. He was a music producer and sound engineer, worked with numerous musicians and bands including Jeff Beck, Peter Green, Deep Purple, Fleetwood Mac, The Groundhogs, Canned Heat, John Lee Hooker, Rainbow, Toad, Black Sabbath, Skid Row, Stackridge, Faces, Flash, Blue Öyster Cult, Iron Maiden, Silverhead, Gary Moore, Wayne County & the Electric Chairs, Roger Glover, Cozy Powell, and Michael Schenker Group.

Sacha Distel

On July 22, 2004, Alexandre “Sacha” Distel died aged 71. He was musician (guitar), singer and actor, during his career worked with Dizzy Gillespie, Tony Bennett, Kenny Clarke, Jimmy Gourley, Lionel Hampton, Slide Hampton, Bobby Jaspar, Barney Kessel, John Lewis, Pierre Michelot, Bernard Peiffer, Henri Renaud, Fats Sadi, Art Simmons, Martial Solal, René Urtreger, and Barney Wilen.  In 1997, Distel was made “Chevalier (Knight) of the Légion d’honneur”.

J. Geils

On April 11, 2017, John Warren Geils Jr. aka J. Geils, Died aged 71. He was singer, songwriter, musician (guitar) and record producer, member of Snoopy and the Sopwith Camels, best known as founding member and leader of the J. Geils Band. In 2015, Geils was named to the “Wall of Honor” at his alma mater, “Bernards High School” in Bernardsville, New Jersey.

Paul Barrere

On October 26, 2019, Paul Barrere died aged 71. He was musician (guitar) and songwriter. He recorded and performed with Taj Mahal, Jack Bruce, Chicken Legs, Blues Busters, Valerie Carter,  Helen Watson, Chico Hamilton, Robert Palmer, Eikichi Yazawa, and Carly Simon, but was best known as guitarist of Little feat.
