Joe Newman’s Septet: The Midgets

In 1956, “RCA” label released “The Midgets”, album by Joe Newman’s Septet (the ninth Joe Newman album overall). It was recorded in July 1956, at “Webstar Hall” in New York City, and was produced by Jack Lewis.

On November 16, 1964, “Columbia” label released “Runnin’ Out of Fools”, the sixth Aretha Franklin studio album. It was recorded in 1964, and was produced by Clyde Otis.

Otis Redding: The Dock of the Bay

Dock of the bay

On February 23, 1968, “Volt” label released “The Dock of the Bay”, the first Otis Redding posthumously released album.  It was recorded July 1965 – December 1967, and was produced by Steve Cropper. It contains a number of singles and B-sides dating back to 1965. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “The Dock of the Bay” at number 161 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of all Time”.
