On April 1, 1984, Marvin Gaye died aged 45. He was shot by his father, Marvin Gay, Sr. at their house in West Adams district of Los Angeles. Gaye was cremated and his ashes were spread in the Pacific Ocean. His death was listed at No. 8 on “VH-1” “Classic’s 100 most shocking moments in music”.

Buffalo Springfield
On March 3, 1966, in Los Angeles, Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay formed Buffalo Springfield. The band combined rock, folk, and country music into a sound of its own. Its best known and selling song “For what it’s worth” became a political anthem in the late 60’.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Hey Joe
On October 23, 1966, “The Jimi Hendrix Experience” recorded their first single “Hey Joe”, at “De Lane Lea” studios in London. “Hey Joe” is an American popular song from the 1960’s (some sources give credits to Billy Roberts as the song author) that has become a rock standard and as such has been performed in different musical styles by number of different artists since it was first written. The earliest known commercial recording of the song is the 1965 single by the Los Angeles garage band “The Leaves”. “The Jimi Hendrix Experience” included “Hey Joe” on their 1967 album “Are you experienced”.
