UB 40: Present Arms

Present Arms.

On May 29, 1981, “DEP International” label released “Present Arms”, the second UB 40 album. It was recorded in 1981, and was produced by Ray “Pablo” Falconer,  Bob Lamb, Astro, Jimmy Brown, Ali Campbell, Robin Campbell, Earl Falconer, Brian Travers and michael Virtue. On October 5, 1981, dub version of the album called “Present Arms in Dub” was released.

Burning Spear: Garvey’s Ghost

Garvey's ghost

On April 23, 1976, “Island” label released “Garvey’s Ghost”, the fourth Burning Spear album. It was recorded in 1976, at “Randy’s Recording Studio” in North Parade, Kingston, Jamaica, and was produced by Lawrence Lindo. Each album track is a dub version of the same song from the band’s third album “Marcus Garvey”.

On April 10, 1989, “Virgin” label released “Club Classics Vol. One”, the debut Soul II Soul album. It was recorded 1988 – 1989, and was produced by Jazzie B. and Nellee Hooper. The album was certified 3 x Platinum by the “British Phonographic Industry”, and 2 x Platinum by the “RIAA” for sales in US. In 2004,  “Q”  magazine  ranked Club Classics Vol. One at number 28 in its list of the “50 Greatest British Albums Ever”. In 2012, “Slant Magazine”, ranked the album at number 100 on its list of “Best Albums of the 1980s”.
