On August 21, 2008, Murrey Mizell “Buddy” Harman, Jr. died aged 79. He was a musician (drums), as the first house drummer for “The Grand Ole Opry” can be heard on over 18,000 recordings. He recorded for artists such as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Martha Carson, Dolly Parton, Brenda Lee, Tammy Wynette, Kenny Rogers, Barbara Mandrell, Loretta Lynn, Roy Orbison, Connie Francis, Chet Atkins, Marty Robbins, Ray Price, Roger Miller, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, Eddy Arnold, Perry Como, Merle Haggard, Reba McEntire, and Gillian Welch.

Pete Drake
On July 29, 1988, Roddis Franklin Drake aka Pete Drake, died aged 55. He was a record producer and musician (pedal steel guitar). He worked with Lynn Anderson, Charlie Rich, Bob Dylan, Tammy Wynette, Jerry Reed, Doug Kershaw, Roger Miller, Jack Greene, Joe South, Don Gibson, Marty Robbins. Bill Anderson, Joan Baez, and George Harrison. Drake founded “Stop Records” and “First Generation Records. In 1970 he was inducted into the “Country Music Hall of Fame’s Walkway of Stars”, in 1987 in the “Steel Guitar Hall of Fame”, in 1987 into the “Georgia Music Hall of Fame”.
