On July 25, 1989, “Capitol” label released “Paul’s Boutique”, the second Beastie Boys studio album. It was recorded 1988–1989, at “Mario C’s” in Los Angeles, “The Opium Den” and “The Record Plant” in New York City, and was produced by Michael Diamond, Adam Yauch, Adam Horovitz, Dust Brothers and Mario Caldato, Jr. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Paul’s Boutique” at number 156 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. Critical recognition made “Paul’s Boutique” a landmark album in hip hop music. In 1999, the album was certified 2 x Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”.
