On April 24, 2016, Jules Shungu Wembadio Pene Kikumba, aka Papa Wemba, died aged 66.  He was musician (Congolese rumba, soukous, and ndombolo), singer and song writer, his pioneering fusion of African, Cuban and Western sounds became one of Africa’s most popular music styles, and made him a prominent name in the World Music.
