On April 23, 2025, David Lynn Thomas died aged 71. He was singer, songwriter and musician (melodeon, trombone, musette, guitar), one of the founding members of the band Rocket from the Tombs, but was best known as founding member, vocalist and composer of Pere Ubu. He worked with a variety of musicians including Richard Thompson, Philip Moxham, Lindsay Cooper, Chris Cutler and John Greaves. He recorded and released albums under his name as David Thomas & the Pedestrians, David Thomas & His Legs, David Thomas & the Wooden Birds, David Thomas & Foreigners, David Thomas & Two Pale Boys, David Thomas and P.O. Jørgens and with Unknown Instructors.
